Turn off the water at the meter.
It is usually near the front boundary of your property. Turn the tap clockwise until it stops. This shuts off the water to the whole house.

If water is near power points, lights or the meter box, switch off the power.
Go to your switchboard and flip the main switch off. Do not touch anything electrical that is wet. If you cannot reach the switchboard safely, stay clear and call us.

Open a tap at the lowest point of the house.
A laundry, garden or downstairs tap is ideal. This drains the water still sitting in the pipes so less of it ends up on your floor.
